Here is the catalog of Araya in 1978. As for domestic rim of those days, the product element such as accuracy, strength, weight, and variety were very inferior to imported rim. We used to prefer imported rim such as Super-Champion, Mavic, Niji, Fiamme. However, since the announcement of Araya model 20A, ambitious new products had appeared from Araya, Ukai, Kaga; domestic rim for sports bicycle developed remarkably.

This is the front cover. As well as the catalog of Sugino in 1978, the news flash of the bottom right was reporting proudly that two Japanese athletes who used Araya rim had won first and second place in the 1977 World Cycling Championship Venezuela.

These are the tubular rim 16B and WO rim 20A. The structure of model 20A was same as Mavic new rim which was announced together with Michelin-Elan in 1976.

These are standard rims of former form. 16A (1)-(4) were normal types. 16A (5) was a hollow, lightweight model.
