Here is the catalog of MAFAC in 1964. MAFAC was a French brake maker.
I think the company was already closed in 1980s. However, a number of cyclists have been using MAFAC ever afterwards.
It depends on cyclist's age what model is favorite.
Criterium, Racer, Competition, or Ride must be familiar to those who began cycling in early 70s like me.
To elder cyclists more than me, Driver, Dural-forge, Top 63, or Tiger might be familiar.
A lot of MAFAC have been sold in the online auction.
Therefore if you don't persist in the product year, you would be able to buy the popular model such as Criterium, Racer, and Competition in the mint condition.
Those who were my generation and had ridden mass-production sports bicycle, have had an experience which exchanged Dia-compe cantilever brake or centre-pull brake for MAFAC Criterium or Racer, and must have been surprised for its good performance.
I had used three types of model such as Competition for road-racing bicycle, Ride for 650*38 randonneur, and Racer for 700*35C randonneur.
But, I hadn't used the most popular model Criterium.
It might be a bit hard to compare MAFAC brake with present brakes, because of advanced function and quality.
However, if you change a brake shoe to present model or attach the brass bushing, you will be able to get mild brake performance.
There are a number of cyclists who use them carefully even now.
Together with the brake, the mobile tool kit has been famous.
This tool kit was composed of thin offset-wrench, socket-spanner which is used with offset wrench, tire levers, and pedal wrench.
Back in those days, I always thought that it was very convenient.
This catalog doesn't have a front cover. It is 4 pages of the center fold, very simple.
The exploded view of Top 63 is interesting. Illustrations were drawn by Daniel Rebour.
This catalog was offered by Mr. Old Cyclist.
