Patterson's House Randonneur

The Randonneur of Patterson's House in 1978

The Patterson's House was the brand which was established by Mr. Shigehide Dazai.
This head badge was second version.

The head badge of left is first version of Patterson's House.
The right is the head badge of Yamaguchi Bennyx. Bennyx was designed by Mr. Dazai.

The frame was composed of Reynolds 531 double-butted Cr-Mo tubes and others, and beautiful Nervex continental cut lugs.
There are stamps on the BB shell. 3006 must be a serial number.
The other is a stamp of Nervex. 59.30 is angle of down tube- seat tube. 54 is angle of seat tube-chain stay.

Fenders and front carrier (Cr-Mo hollow tube) were original products of Patterson's House.
The tire was Mitsuboshi Trim-line (the company was already closed). It was also designed by Mr. Dazai. And ex-owner helped him as monitor.

Six photos from here were special frame works.
The left was direct-attached Mafac center-pull brake.
The right was peg for inflator, and outer cable receiver of derailleur.

The left was direct-attached outer cable hanger. The welding method of the seat stay was very beautiful.
The right was a direct-attached fender hanger.

The peg of inflator, and direct-attached shifter.
The fender stay was made of strong Cr-Mo hollow tube for weight saving. It was fixed by special lock nut for weight saving.

The stem has a genuine weight saving set which was composed of an aluminum wedge, an aluminum wedge bolt, and an aluminum fixing bolt for a clamp.
The right was also outer cable receiver. The head set was a Rinko model. Mr. Dazai selected aluminum locknut for weight saving.

Crank was "TA three-arms". It was rare even in those days.

There was a date (1978.Jan.8.Sun) on the back side of the crank. Ex-owner had delivered New-year cards as a part time worker to buy this crank. Why it had to be Sunday? Since the shop Patterson's House was opened only Sunday.

The name of Patterson's House came from Frank Patterson who was English artist. Mr.Dazai loved Patterson's drawing and had used it for his shop's advertisement.

Frank Patterson was bone in Portsmouth England at 12 Oct. 1871, passed away at 17 July. 1952. He had ride bicycle all over England from end of 19th century to middle of 20th century and drown about 4,000 leafs of the cycling scenery.
I've look for the book for long time and found some used book shop at England. It is very rare as much as Patterson's House bicycle.
